Amy has a way of making photos seamless. We did a family lifestyle shoot with our 2 year old and newborn. Our toddler was not having any of it at first but Amy found a way to connect with her and by the end, she was working that camera! Amy got the best candid shots of our family. The process of trying to find a photographer was daunting. I knew I wanted someone to capture those intimate moments, photos that exude the love and warmth of a wedding day. The moment I saw Amy's work I knew she was special and was keen on meeting her. Luckily, when we met and had our engagement photos taken (so great to have this opportunity to meet before the big day), I knew she was the one for us. She made us feel so comfortable having our photos taken (one can imagine how awkward this could be). She made it fun and seamless and it showed in our photos. Amy is so easy to converse with and responsive via email, which was really important to me.
On the wedding day, it was as many weddings are, hectic but absolutely magical. I can't stress how thankful I am to have had Amy and her friend who not only ensured that all the many photo combinations, details, action shots etc, were spectacular, but she was also that great support, very grounding, and kind. The photos came out more stunning than we could have ever imagined. Amy captured the magic of the day, and yes, she captured the warmth and the love perfectly, and we are forever grateful. Picking a wedding photographer initially started out very stressful. We had a few people referred to us from friends that we were considering, and as much as we liked their work, it just didn't fully feel like the one. We were then scrolling through facebook and came across an ad for Amy/Five Sparrows and started reviewing her work, which was just absolutely beautiful. As we knew how important having good photos were, we were stressed about making the wrong choice, but ultimately landed on Amy and her photography. We can confidently say it was definitely the right choice, and probably one of the best choices we made for our big day.
Having the ability to take engagement photos prior to our big day was perfect, and we would highly recommend it for everyone. It was the best opportunity to meet Amy, get to know her style and approach, and get comfortable taking photos. Both of us aren't photogenic and aren't normally comfortable in front of the camera, but Amy made it so easy, comfortable and just fun. Not only did we enjoy doing it, but the photos turned out incredible. Amy even drove to our venue to take our engagement photos which created incredible moments of capturing the exact same photo before and on our wedding day for comparison.
On our big day, Amy fit in so seamlessly with everyone and had the perfect balanced touch of keeping things light and fun, but just serious enough to make sure we got every photo we had requested (plus a ton more). As the day is crazy, her light and fun attitude was exactly what we needed. Her partner spent the morning at our house with the men while she spent the morning with the ladies at the venue. Amy's partner also fit in nicely with the men and they all raved about how much fun they had getting ready and taking photos. The photos were the perfect balance of silly and serious. While the ladies got ready, Amy kept herself busy taking photos of the venue and capturing all the key elements of our day. She then joined us and took a ton of fun photos keeping nerves low before the big moments which was so appreciated. We did a first look, and even though Amy and her partner were there taking photos, they did a great job making the moment feel so private. Amy then spent the rest of the day keeping things light and making sure we got everything we needed.
To say I would recommend Amy to anyone in a heartbeat is an understatement. Our review can't express how much we loved her as a photographer and as a person. She made our day absolutely magical, and the fact that we get to relive that day so clearly through our photos is truly incredible. I don't think there is a single moment, or feeling that she didn't manage to capture. Everytime we look at our photos, we are truly amazed at what she managed to capture. We first chose Amy for our engagement + wedding photos because we loved her editing style (which has a distinct "golden hour" vibe!). We were quite nervous to get our engagement pictures done as we had never experienced professional photography before and we had worried that we might be a bit unnatural in front of the camera. However, Amy immediately put us at ease and had so many ideas/poses for us to do that we had a great time and ended up with amazing photos that really captured the fun that we have together. For the wedding, Amy was on top of everything and was great at getting lots of family + couple photos done in a short amount of time (when everything inevitably ran late). She was also great at going with the flow when the schedule did not go exactly as planned, and she was able to find the perfect moments to take us aside for some more couple photo opportunities (such as when the sun was setting!). We absolutely love how our photos turned out as they really capture us as a couple. Ultimately, we would certainly recommend Five Sparrows Photography to anyone searching for their wedding photographer!
